Lent Devotional - Day 19

Read John 10:1-21.

The amazing thing about Jesus, is that each of us has direct access to him. We don’t have to go through a priest, a pastor, a prophet, a guru, or anybody else to get to God. We also don’t need anyone else to interpret or make the words of God clear to us.

Jesus grants us direct access to himself and the Father, and he gives us his Holy Spirit who helps us to understand the words of God and empowers us to carry out the will of God.

Don’t fall into deceptive teachings that include Jesus or invoke the name of Jesus that are not the Gospel message. Jesus is the only way. Jesus himself makes it clear that he is the gate and whoever enter through him will be saved. People who try to access God by any others means will not be saved.

Jesus is not a way, a metaphor, a good man, a good teacher, a prophet, or even consciousness, but he is Immanuel; God with us. He tells us that he is the good shepherd who lays down his life for us. No one else seeks to do the same or aims to do the same for us.

Jesus is the only who came to give his life for us to save us and reconcile us to the Father. He is the only one who offer us true abundant life. He is the only one who has died for us and has been raised to life again.

Put your faith and hope in Jesus alone. He alone can save. Listen for his voice and follow him only.

————————————————————————————————————————--

Jesus, thank for laying down your life for me. Thank you that you have come for me and have rescued me. There is so much noise, and distractions in my life, but by your Holy Spirit help me to hear your voice. Help me to discern your voice and tune out all others. Help me to follow you alone and put my trust in you alone. Thank you for your abundant life in me. You are my Lord and Saviour and I live for you alone. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
