Lent - Day 10

13 I think it right, as long as I am in this body, to stir you up by way of reminder, 14 since I know that the putting off of my body will be soon, as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me. 15 And I will make every effort so that after my departure you may be able at any time to recall these things.  (2 Peter 1:13–15, ESV)

As the Apostle Peter writes this letter, he is fully aware that his time on earth is short. Nevertheless, his plan is to continue to stir up and encourage the body to continue to mature in their faith.

At this stage of his life his every effort will be put towards the body of Christ being able to recall what they must do in order make certain their calling and to confirm their election.

It is part of spiritual maturity that we number our days and know our time on earth is finite. This is not to put us in a panic or make us fearful, but knowing that our eternity is secure in Jesus, we can live confidently and live all the more boldly for His kingdom.

Remember that you have a mission, and your life is not your own. Let us encourage one another towards love and good deeds and share the reason for our faith boldly.
