Lent - Day 13
And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts, (2 Peter 1:19, ESV)
The Apostle Peter mentions that they have seen God, heard God, and now have been given the prophetic word of God. What he describes for us is the vibrant, living relationship with Jesus Christ.
God is not far away and distant, but He is Immanuel, God with Us. God is not silent, but like a shepherd talks to his sheep, we are able recognize His voice and He calls us by name. The word of God given to us is not dry and old, but it is living and active.
We are encouraged to actively pay attention to the word of God and apply it as a lamp lighting our path. What a great disservice we do to ourselves when we read the Bible with no expectancy and faith that God is speaking to us. It is imperative that we as believers continually exercise and exert our faith in every aspect of our lives, for we are told that it is impossible to please God without faith.
Faith is trust and trust is the foundation of any relationship. There can be no love without trust. If we are unwilling to fully trust God then we are unwilling to truly love God. God shows us unconditional love and we need to do the same.
Set apart God in your hearts and minds today that He is Holy and He is true.
