Lent - Day 14

20 knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. 21 For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.  (2 Peter 1:20–21, ESV)

Today the Apostle Peter shows us the utmost importance of our need for the Holy Spirit, who is our teacher, counsellor, and comforter. In walking intimately with Jesus, it is no longer about what we know and of our opinions, we must unlearn the world and learn again the Kingdom of God.

As we read the Bible, it is not based on our interpretation, but by the revelation given to us by the Holy Spirit of God. Jesus in His conversation with Nicodemus stresses our need to be born again and this by the Holy Spirit. Even John the Baptizer said of Jesus that He will baptize us with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Our relationship with Jesus must go beyond a religious and intellectual understanding because that is purely at our level and within our control and grasp, but the Kingdom of God is beyond human control and grasp. Spiritual things require the Holy Spirit for us to understand and participate in.

Ask Jesus for the baptism of the Holy Spirit today and surrender yourself wholly to God.
