Lent - Day 36

waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn!  (2 Peter 3:12, ESV)

The final judgment of all creation will be an awesome sight to behold. At that time, many will long for God to be even more patient, but unfortunately He has set a time in mind when he will wrap it all up and bring His people finally home to be with Him for all eternity.

Those of us in Christ long for His return and want to Him to come as soon as possible. This world and its pleasures are certainly not our home and not our heart’s desires. We must be wary of falling in love with this world and its ways. It’s at the thought of, “hey this world isn’t that bad,” that we are betrayed and having fallen out of love with Jesus and we run into the arms of the enemy.

But thanks be to God that He did not give us a spirit of fear, but of love and of sound-mind. As new creation, we are built to endure to the very end and are called to be victorious. We must daily lean upon Him and cling to Him. He is faithful and true. Maranatha!
