Lent - Day 37
But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. (2 Peter 3:13, ESV)
The glorious thing about the promise is the character of the one that makes this promise. God is trustworthy and faithful. It is His nature that He does not lie.
This gives us great assurance that what God has promised He will certainly fulfill. This faith in His character is exactly what God credited to Abraham as righteousness. As it is written in Numbers 23:19, “God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?” (Numbers 23:19, ESV)
Although the journey is long and difficult, it is also filled with much joy and relief. The Great Shepherd of the sheep will guard us and guide us till He brings us home.
